Join us for an intimate evening with photographer, writer, and multidisciplinary artist Dia Soto, also known as Colores del Barrio, as we explore and discuss concepts central to her residency at the San Diego Made Factory.

The gathering will reintroduce Dia and her work to the community while opening a larger conversation about photography, representation, identity, and the power of visual storytelling. Dia will explore how language shapes the ways we see, document, and understand our communities, along with what it means to decolonize visual narratives and reclaim the stories told about our neighborhoods.

Together, participants will consider questions of community visibility, dignity, lived experience, and who has the power to shape the images and stories that enter contemporary visual culture.

The evening will include an opening poetry or visual art presentation, a talk by Dia, an audience Q&A, and time to connect and socialize.

The event will be moderated by Ethan van Thillo of. Media Arts Center San Diego.
